Who Is Your Friend?

I have always said, “show me your friends and I will show you your future.” In this passage James says show me who your friends really are and I will show you why you are in the situation you are in. As hard as it is for us to accept, James’ words still ring true today; if we are friends with the world we are missing out on God’s best for us. And God is really for us. .The question is can we apply what James instructs to so that we are in a position to receive the best God has for us? James 4:4-12

God Loves You, But I’m Not So Sure

What is the source of conflict in our relationships? We tend to blame problems on the circumstances that hurt us without taking any responsibility ourselves. Yet, are others to blame for our unhappiness or discontent? God is the source of everything we need and all we have to do is ask Him for his help. James 4:1-3

A Lethal Inflection

Our words determine the course of our lives and affect the environment and course of the lives of others. We need to realize the positive and negative potential of our words and how what we say affects others. James 3:1-12

The book of James tells us not to show favoritism to others. When we do - our motives are evil. If we want to have faith that works, we need to see people through God's eyes and honor those that we have a tendency to dishonor. James 2:1-13

Don’t Just Stand There

This is Only a Test

When we are facing difficult times, God wants us to trust him. Adversity in our lives is not evidence of a lack of God's faithfulness. This is God's way of building faith in us. James 1:1-12

Apply or Die

You can believe all of the right things, but if you don't apply what you believe to your life, it is useless to you. Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. God will use what you believe to preserve your life, finances, and family through applying what you believe.

Who we are in God, how God sees us is crucial in our ability to connecting with God.

First Things First

We can control our busyness by re-prioritizing our values. God wants us to put Him ahead of our daily worries and then He will take care of all our needs. If Jesus is our first priority, all other things will fall into place. Busyness is just a symptom of seeking the wrong things first.

Busyness is another enemy of intimacy with God. Knowing God requires that we give Him "un-rushed" time and our undivided attention. If we are too busy to spend time each day with our heavenly father, we've lost perspective. Are we willing to re-prioritize our lives to invest in things with a long-term benefit?

The apologetic of the early church was built on the resurrection.The Jewish flavor of early Christianity created an unhealthy, blended-model tradition, that almost derailed the entire enterprise. Things came to a head at the Jerusalem Counsel.

Part 1 - Stand Alone

If you were raised on a version of Christianity that relied on the Bible as the foundation of faith, a version that was eventually dismantled by academia or the realities of life, maybe it’s time for you to change your mind about Jesus. Maybe it’s time for you to consider the version of Christianity that relies on the event of the resurrection of Jesus as its foundation. If you gave up your faith because of something about or in the Bible, maybe you gave up unnecessarily.

When you lose your fear of death, all fear is gone. The disciples’ hope was not in the Scriptures, but what they had seen and heard. The reason for our faith in Jesus—and thus our hope—is the resurrection. We must reclaim this hope for the sake of the generation that left faith and the next generation as well. So if you gave up on Christianity because of something in the Bible or something about the Bible, maybe it’s time to step back onto the firm foundation of our first- century friends, placing your confidence in the event that started it all.
